Architectural Technician

About the Role

You’ll be joining a collaborative team of talented architectural professionals who have completed over 3,000 projects across a wide spectrum—from house extensions and loft conversions to medium-scale housing developments and bespoke residential schemes. The practice is committed to creating designs that balance comfort, practicality, and aesthetic appeal, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and compliance.

As an Architectural Technician, you’ll play a key role in the delivery of small-scale domestic projects and medium-sized residential developments. You’ll be involved from concept through to completion, ensuring technical precision and regulatory compliance at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct measured building surveys and site visits

  • Translate client briefs into design concepts and technical drawings

  • Prepare and submit planning applications and building regulation packages

  • Produce detailed construction drawings and tender documentation

  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and local authorities

  • Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations and permitted development rights

  • Support the design team with technical detailing and presentation materials

  • Maintain quality assurance and project documentation standards

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a UK architectural practice

  • Strong background in residential architecture, including domestic extensions and housing schemes

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for technical drawing and documentation

  • Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning policies, and statutory legislation

  • Experience with Severn Trent build-over agreements, Party Wall notices, and permitted development rights

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Skills:

  • Freehand sketching and design sensibility

  • Adobe Photoshop proficiency

  • Knowledge of Principal Designer role under CDM regulations

  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
