We are currently working with a busy practice who is seeking an experienced Associate Director to join an ambitious, employee-owned business based in their London office. This is a pivotal role where you will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the infrastructure and drainage division, take on significant responsibility, and help steer the company’s success in the coming years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the infrastructure and drainage team, ensuring high standards of technical delivery across projects.
  • Take ownership of client relationships and business development activities, acting as the principal point of contact for key clients and projects.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality infrastructure designs, including Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Sustainable Urban Drainage Strategies (SuDS).
  • Work on a variety of projects, ensuring the integration of innovative and sustainable solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic direction for the team, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, overseeing their technical development and ensuring their continued growth and success.
  • Lead project meetings and consultations with stakeholders, representing the company with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing technical, financial, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams and departments, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages the sharing of knowledge and ideas.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in infrastructure and drainage engineering, with a strong track record in client care and business development.
  • Chartered status (CEng, or equivalent) is preferred, but candidates working towards Chartered status will also be considered.
  • Extensive experience in producing Flood Risk Assessments and Sustainable Urban Drainage Strategies (SuDS).
  • High-level proficiency in using MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and other relevant software.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to think both strategically and at a detailed level, ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with a focus on mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
  • Experience in writing technical reports, conducting stakeholder consultations, and managing public meetings.
  • A strong commitment to quality, with an eye for detail and a focus on professional presentation.
  • The ability to manage projects from inception to completion, including financial management, resource allocation, and risk management.
