Building Envelope Specialist

Leatherhead outskirts

£50,000 - £55,000 plus benefits

 

Our client is seeking a Building Envelope Specialist to join their senior team of experts conducting due diligence and Latent Defects Insurance technical audits on prestigious projects, including some of London's most iconic new developments. This is a pivotal role for a professional with extensive experience in cladding systems within various building types and building envelopes across design and construction. Your professional qualification should be in engineering or architecture from a consulting or contracting background.

 

The Role:
As part of a specialised team of structural engineers and architects, you will:

  • Conduct detailed inspections and reviews of building envelope systems.
  • Provide expert advice and technical assessments for clients on a day-to-day basis.
  • Work on local, national and international projects with the need for flexibility for travel to meet client demands.
  • Collaborate on projects involving diverse building types and materials.
  • Deliver high-quality, detailed technical reports and maintain strong client relationships day-to-day.

 

What You’ll Need:
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Significant experience in the design, construction, and assessment of building envelope systems, including issues around “bespoke” designs.
  • Deep understanding of cladding components such as framing, gaskets, insulants, vapour barriers, and membranes.
  • Expertise in a range of materials, including aluminium, steel, timber, GRP, ETFE, and more.
  • Knowledge of coatings, ventilation, interfaces, tolerances, and bespoke designs.
  • Experience with testing, maintenance, and repair of cladding systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulations, codes, and due diligence/latent defects insurance work.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and client-facing skills.
  • Experience of Due diligence and Latent Defects Insurance works.
  • Expert witness experience.
