Our client, a medium-sized real estate and property construction consultancy based in Sheffield, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Building Surveyor to join their team. As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing your own projects within various sectors including retail, education, healthcare and industrial.

 

Responsibilities of the Building Surveyor:

  • Conduct detailed surveys and inspections of buildings and properties to identify and assess structural defects, condition, and potential risks.
  • Prepare accurate reports outlining your findings, including recommendations for repairs and maintenance.
  • Carry out feasibility studies and provide technical advice on property acquisition, construction projects, alterations, and renovations.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to provide holistic solutions and advice on building regulations, compliance, and sustainability.
  • Manage and oversee building maintenance processes, including planned maintenance programs, compliance audits, and contract administration.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients on property-related matters, offering expert knowledge and assisting with decision-making processes.
  • Attend site visits and meetings to establish project requirements, manage progress, and ensure adherence to quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Assist with project management tasks, such as budgeting, cost control, document management, and planning.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients, answering queries and providing exceptional customer service.

 

Requirements of the Building Surveyor:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in building surveying, preferably within a consultancy environment.
  • MRICS qualification is highly desirable.
  • Sound knowledge of building regulations, construction techniques, and surveying methodologies.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive surveys, produce accurate reports, and make informed recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues.

 

On offer for the Building Surveyor:

  • The salary range for this position is £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience and chartership
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
