Civil Infrastructure Engineer (Permanent) – Edinburgh

 

About the Role

Are you a motivated Civil Engineer looking to elevate your career within infrastructure? A leading engineering consultancy in Edinburgh is seeking a driven Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join a collaborative and supportive team. You'll work on a wide range of projects from residential developments to renewable energy and commercial schemes.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborating with internal infrastructure teams in Edinburgh and beyond to deliver ambitious projects
  • Leading or supporting workstreams from feasibility and masterplanning through to detailed design and construction support
  • Developing sustainable drainage strategies, highway infrastructure designs, and technical planning documents (e.g. Drainage Impact Assessments, Surface Water Management Plans)
  • Preparing design drawings, reports, calculations, and levels/earthworks appraisals that align with industry standards
  • Handling due diligence for land purchases and securing technical approvals for highways and drainage
  • Working closely with transport planning, flood risk, air quality, and acoustics specialists to deliver joined‑up solutions

 

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Educated to HNC, HND, or degree level in Civil Engineering (or similar)
  • Typically has 2–3 years' post-grad experience at Assistant Engineer level or 4+ years at Engineer level
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant institution
  • Proficient in Causeway Flow and AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D or Site 3D is a bonus (training available)
  • Knowledgeable of Sewer Sector Guidance, Building Regulations
  • Experienced (or eager to learn) in residential development infrastructure within a consultancy environment
  • Equipped with the right to work in the UK and hold a full UK driving licence
