A building Clerk of Works is required to join a Leeds based multi-disciplinary property consultancy on a contract basis for a period of 6-12 months with the possibility of further extensions, the position sits outside of IR35 regulations and is full time.

The Clerk of works will be responsible for overseeing the quality inspections of a wide range of projects ranging from public realm / public building, residential to include high rise and new build housing, education refurbishments and leisure projects. The position will incorporate a mixture of construction site, remote and office based work and the suitable Clerk of Works will be given full autonomy for their own projects.  

The Clerk of work will be the regular eyes and ears on the ground during the works, ensuring specifications are followed and quality maintained throughout. You will need a particular eye for detail regarding installation of cavity barriers and other fire prevention measures, ensuring these are properly recorded and signed off by the contractor and any sub-contractors. Daily records will need to be maintained and weekly reports with photographs and other documentation as appropriate to maintain the records required by Building Control.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting construction work and comparing it with drawings and specifications
  • Measuring and quality checking building materials
  • Identifying defects and suggesting ways to correct them
  • Monitoring progress and reporting to construction managers, architects and clients
  • Keeping detailed records of work
  • Referring to plans and taking photographs of work, along with measurements and samples
  • Liaising with contractors, engineers and surveyors
  • Checking that building regulations, health and safety, legal and ecological requirements are met
  • Strong track record within the construction industry is essential. ·
  • Experience in the aforementioned sectors is desirable.
  • Project Management or building surveying background preferred ·
  • Up to date on all Building Regulations is essential.
  • Must be able to read drawings.

Hourly rate is £30.00 - £35.00 per hour LTD / Umbrella based on 37 hours per week, initial contract period 6-12 months.
