Conservation Architect (AABC, SCA or CA Accredited)

We are seeking a talented and conscientious Conservation Architect to join a well-established, design-focused architectural studio based in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter. With over 40 years of experience delivering thoughtful, bespoke solutions across a wide range of sectors, this practice is known for balancing creative innovation with practical expertise — all while maintaining a strong social and environmental conscience.

About the Role

You’ll be joining a collaborative and down-to-earth team that values meaningful relationships with clients, communities, and heritage. As a Conservation Architect, you’ll lead and support projects involving listed buildings, heritage assets, and conservation areas. You’ll work closely with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality design and documentation that respects and enhances the historic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead conservation and heritage projects from concept to completion

  • Prepare heritage statements, conservation management plans, and listed building consent applications

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants

  • Engage with clients and heritage bodies to ensure sensitive and compliant design solutions

  • Contribute to the studio’s ethos of thoughtful, sustainable, and community-focused architecture

Requirements

  • AABC accreditation or listed on the RIBA Conservation Register at CA or SCA level (essential)

  • Proven experience working on conservation and heritage projects in the UK

  • Strong design and technical skills, with attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities

  • Passion for preserving and enhancing the built heritage
