Conrad Consulting are delighted to be working with a reputable housebuilder based in Shropshire, seeking to appoint an experienced Design Coordinator to work on-site on a project in Swansea on a long term basis. The position will initially be home-based, but once the site is up and running the position will be based in Swansea full time.

You will be a key member of the on-site delivery team, working on a 100+ unit aparment scheme, supporting the on-site Project Manager in the effective delivery of the project from detailed design phase, throughout construction to completion. Reporting to the on-site Project Manager on a day-to-day basis, and to the Head of Design/Technical and Head of Construction at Head Office.


Initially home-based until a full site presence is established, then based at the site offices. A mobile telephone and company laptop with Revit and AutoCAD licenses will be provided.


Principal duties of the Design Coordinator will include the following.

 

  • Undertake a thorough and comprehensive review of all stage 3 design packages.
  • Assess existing design information for compliance with the project specification, Employer’s
  • Requirements etc. and develop and maintain a register of areas of concern.
  • Identify opportunities for design efficiencies, value engineering etc. as appropriate.
  • Early engagement with the external design team (Architects; Civil Engineers; Structural Engineers; Fire Engineers; Landscape Architects etc.) as they are novated/appointed for stage 4 onwards.
  • Monitor, co-ordinate and manage the design by the external design team, consultants and suppliers.
  • Review the various design packages as they progress and provide comment and feedback against compliance with project specification, ERs, building regulations, warranty standards etc.
  • Monitor, track and report on design progress against the project programme.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the technical query process upstream with Client/Developer/Employer’s Agent and downstream with Consultants/Suppliers/Subcontractors.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the design change process as required.
  • Manage the storage of design information on the PHL project sharepoint and co-ordinate and control the efficient distribution of drawings and documents.
  • Verify that works on-site are being carried out in accordance with the design, specification, ERs etc.
  • Preparation of monthly design reports, collating and co-ordinating monthly reports of the external design team, for presentation at Client meetings.
  • Co-ordinate the gathering of information, as-built records, specifications, product literature etc. for the O&M manual, Health and Safety file and tenant information packs.
  • Liaising with Technical, Commercial, Procurement and Construction colleagues.
  • Liaising with external consultants, civil and structural engineers, planning and building control officers, NHBC inspectors as required.
  • Attending internal and external meetings as necessary in the performance of your role.
  • Undertaking any additional tasks as may reasonably be required, as directed by your line manager or Head Office management team.

The successful Design Coordinator will be offered a salary in the region of £55,000-£60,000 per annum alongside a competitive benefits package.
