As a Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll be part of a highly skilled team delivering innovative and sustainable design solutions across sectors like rail, highways, structures, and water.
The Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing complex geotechnical projects and delivering detailed design packages, such as earthworks, slope stability, shallow and deep foundations, and retaining walls.
- Planning and overseeing ground investigations for large-scale infrastructure and commercial developments.
- Designing earthworks and foundations to Eurocode 7 standards and preparing earthworks specifications and design drawings.
- Developing ground improvement techniques for soft ground, including vertical drains, surcharge, piled embankments, and stabilisation methods.
- Supporting design teams with geotechnical expertise and ensuring compliance with standards like DN-ERW-03083.
- Preparing risk assessments, tender documents, and high-quality technical reports.
- Designing pavement foundations in line with TII/UK DMRB requirements.
- Using advanced geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Wallap, and Holebase/Openground.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: 5+ years in geotechnical design, preferably with exposure to Irish/UK glacial till soils.
- Qualifications: Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering. Chartered status (CEng, MICE) is desirable.
- Skills: Strong technical, analytical, and report-writing abilities, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with geotechnical and numerical analysis software.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel for short assignments within Ireland and overseas.
- Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Additional: A full, clean driving licence.
