INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER - FLOOD RISK & DRAINAGE

Our client is seeking a Graduate Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer or Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to join their busy Bristol office.

 

The successful candidate will be involved in the preparation of, and contribution to, Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports to support planning applications — from small-scale projects to major developments across the UK. Responsibilities will include internet-based research, report writing, and preparing accompanying drawings and plans using AutoCAD and InfoDrainage software. Training will be provided both through on-the-job experience and external courses. Travel to site visits and meetings (typically with a more experienced colleague) will also be required.

 

Essential Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent numeracy, oral communication, and written English skills
  • A relevant Bachelor's or Master’s degree (such as Geography or Civil Engineering)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload and deadlines independently
  • A pro-active, creative, and logical approach to problem-solving

 

Desirable Skills

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Experience in flood risk assessments and drainage design using InfoDrainage
  • Report writing experience
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with relevant planning and technical guidance such as the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), CIRIA SuDS Design Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance, and Building Regulations
