Principal / Associate Transport Planner

London

£65,000 - £70,000 plus benefits

 

Would you like to play a leading role within an award-winning UK multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy?

 

If so then a fantastic opportunity has come up for a Principal / Associate Transport Planner to join the team in our clients London office on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in development planning, delivering transport planning projects, ideally within a consultancy background. This senior role is designed for an individual with a passion for transport planning through a proactive, can-do, attitude and an interest in collaborative working opportunities.

 

This role would be perfect for a strong senior or principal transport planner looking for the opportunity to step up into a new role in a rapidly growing company. The bulk of your day will be guiding clients and assisting in project delivery and team management. You will be expected to develop new business for the consultancy and help drive further growth. As such, private sector experience is required for the successful candidate.

 

Key Duties:

  • Management and successful delivery of transport planning projects, including day to day management of projects and clients;
  • Providing transport planning advice to colleagues and clients;
  • Preparation of technical reports and presentations as required in line with company and client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice;
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design;
  • Liaising with the Project Director / Manager and client to keep informed of all developments associated with the project;
  • Analyses relating to transport planning and traffic engineering projects including traffic modelling, database, spread sheet and proprietary modelling coding and interrogation;
  • Assisting in the resolution of complex technical issues;
  • Document management, including drawing registers;
  • Monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes.

 

Qualifications:

  • A degree in transport related/numeric subject (e.g., Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering), or equivalent;
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles of transport planning including a detailed understanding of policy, relevant design standards, and the requirements of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans;
  • Team player, self-starter and problem solver with 'Can-do' attitude;
  • Confident and outgoing individual;
  • Client focused with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach with a high level of commitment to quality;
  • Relevant experience, including a range of projects across the sectors, preferably within the private sector;
  • Commercial awareness and the confidence, ability and experience to provide clear, authoritative advice;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project;
  • A detailed understanding of TRICS for trip generation, the fundamentals of trip distribution, and assessment skills using Junctions 10 and LinSig. Further skills in CAD, road safety engineering, junction design and assessment would be an advantage;
  • Full Chartered Member of the Institute of Highways and Transportation or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or an equivalent professional organisation;
  • Full current driving licence.
