We are working with a leading consultancy providing civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering services across various sectors. They have built a strong reputation for delivering innovative, high-quality designs, with a particular focus on temporary works and geotechnical solutions and are recognized as one of the UK's top consultancies in these areas.

 

The role:
The Principal Engineer is required to join their dynamic team; you will be responsible for independently managing civil, structural, and geotechnical design and checking tasks, from client briefs through to delivery. You will leverage your expertise to deliver practical, cost-effective, and safe solutions in line with industry regulations, Eurocodes, and best practice standards.

 

As a senior team member, you will also take on significant responsibility for complex projects and tasks, ensuring successful completion in terms of quality, cost, and timelines.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote our client to both internal and external clients.
  • Operate autonomously within the team, with the potential to take full lead responsibility for major projects or complex tasks.
  • Regularly liaise with technicians and junior engineers to ensure efficient development of tasks, meeting timescales and budgets.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians, fostering their development.

 

Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead civil, structural, and geotechnical design and checking activities, independently managing projects from client briefs.
  • Develop concept and detailed design solutions using the appropriate tools, considering the complexity of each project.
  • Apply your in-depth knowledge to identify and implement practical, safe, and cost-effective solutions, in full compliance with statutory legislation and industry guidelines.
  • Possess expert knowledge of structural/geotechnical software and an understanding of their limitations, alongside the ability to produce sketches by hand or using CAD.
  • Ensure engineers and technicians under your supervision are well-briefed and supported, overseeing the process and ensuring successful task completion.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing projects in accordance with BS EN ISO 19650, including building information modelling (BIM).
