PRINCIPAL temporary works design ENGINEER

£70,000 to £80,000 per annum + plus benefits (Permanent)

Principal Temporary Works Engineer required for a specialist engineering contractor, with a reputation for designing and delivering some of London’s most complex and innovative civil engineering projects.

The Design Engineer will be working on a range of projects across the UK including caissons and cofferdam designs, foundations, drainage, façade retention, tunnelling and many more. The Temporary Works Engineer will be joining a growing team working on multiple projects.

The Design Engineer will have a broad knowledge of construction techniques and temporary works systems. The Engineer will be a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering qualified engineer with experience working in a UK consultancy. The Engineer should have experience in a range of projects such as Sheet pile and soil retention, working platforms & pile mat design, slope stability, foundation design, total and effective stress considerations, tower crane bases both gravity and piled and Pile design.

Engineer Position Overview

  • Design engineering solutions for a range of standard, complex and bespoke projects
  • Provide support to our engineering teams nationwide with design, design checking Preparation of clear and well-structured design calculations and reports
  • Ensure design risks are considered and prepare design risk assessments
  • Adhering to codes of practice, UK regulations and company policies.
  • Providing strong technical support to tenders.
  • Site visits and client meetings
  • Maintenance of project documentation records
  • Work on multiple projects at any one time

Position Requirements

  • A BEng or MEng in a Civil or Structural Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 7 years' experience within Temp Works
  • Experience with Pilling, Slope stability and Foundation design
  • Pile design experience
  • Experience with Structural assessment and surveying
  • Understanding of relevant British Standards, European Standards, and specialist documentation
  • Understanding of safety legislations relating to temporary works
  • Experience with Robot, Teeds and Tekla structural analysis programmes
  • Either already achieved or aiming towards becoming a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
