Our client is a rapidly growing construction and property consultancy based in Sheffield with an extensive portfolio of projects ranging from residential, commercial, and public-sector developments.  Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team.

 

Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

 

  • Cost Management: Conducting comprehensive cost assessments for construction projects, including estimating, procurement, and valuations. Collaborating closely with project stakeholders to ensure financial objectives are met throughout all stages of development.
  • Tender Management: Preparing and evaluating tender documents, providing detailed analysis, and assessing contractors' bids. Ensuring compliance with project specifications, mitigating potential risks, and recommending optimal procurement strategies.
  • Project Budgeting: Assisting in the creation and monitoring of project budgets, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Utilising industry knowledge and cost databases to provide accurate financial projections.
  • Contract Administration: Drafting, reviewing, and administering contracts, including engaging in negotiations to drive favourable terms for our company. Addressing contractual issues, variations, and claims promptly and effectively.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks, analysing their impacts, and developing mitigation strategies. Collaborating with project teams to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers. Communicating effectively to resolve conflicts, address concerns, and facilitate successful project delivery.
  • Reporting: Preparing regular reports, including cost forecasts, progress reports, and final accounts, providing accurate and transparent financial analysis. Presenting findings to senior management and clients as required.

 

Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Membership of a professional body such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, and project financial control.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software applications and tools.

 

On offer for the Quantity Surveyor:

  • The salary range for this position is £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays with the ability to buy/sell
