Job Title: Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator

Are you a Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator with a passion for commercial management, development appraisals, and high-stakes project coordination? I am working exclusively with a developer who is looking for a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager to join our team, bringing expertise to construction projects. This role will involve overseeing high-value projects, managing risks, coordinating subcontractors, presenting financials to external stakeholders, and ensuring the successful financial outcome of various assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee and coordinate multiple projects, ensuring efficiency, budget adherence, and timely delivery.
  • Commercial Management: Take ownership of commercial responsibilities, from pre-construction budgeting to managing costs during live projects. Develop and report budgets, identify and mitigate risks, and handle compensation events.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Engage with subcontractors for procurement, negotiation, and package management, delivering projects within budget and scope.
  • Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments and establish mitigation strategies during both pre-construction and construction phases to manage project costs effectively.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Interface with clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, budgets, and timelines.
  • Development Appraisals: Conduct financial appraisals to determine the viability and profitability of potential developments, considering risk, returns, and market factors.
  • Presenting to Banks and Stakeholders: Prepare and present detailed financial reports and development appraisals to banks and other financial stakeholders, providing clear insights on project value and financial metrics.
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Work: Create comprehensive bills of quantities and detailed schedules to guide project planning, ensure cost accuracy, and support tendering processes.

 

Ideal Candidate Will Bring:

  • Experience: in Quantity Surveying, Estimating or Commercial Management within the construction industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: understanding of NEC3 contracts, compensation events, risk management processes, and development appraisals.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with clients, preparing reports, and negotiating contracts.
