As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in overseeing the financial aspects of civil engineering projects, ensuring effective cost control, accurate forecasting, and successful project delivery. Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commercial and financial aspects of civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, cost control, and profitability targets.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for civil engineering projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive contract reviews and negotiate favourable terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor and manage variations, valuations, and final accounts, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
  • Provide expert advice on contractual matters, including claims and disputes resolution.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure efficient procurement of materials, subcontractors, and plant, while optimizing value for money.
  • Monitor project costs, analysing expenditure and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts, providing accurate cost projections and highlighting any potential risks or deviations from the budget.
  • Conduct rigorous cost analysis and value engineering exercises to enhance project profitability.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, market trends, and changes in legislation related to quantity surveying and civil engineering projects.


Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
  • Proficient in using industry-standard software
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering processes
  • Strong understanding of contract conditions, measurement methodologies
  • NEC Contracts Experience
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential.
