Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + bonus + car allowance

Join a growing cost management team delivering some of the UK’s most complex and high-value projects. We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take the lead on significant schemes within the defence, education, and residential sectors—immediately supporting a major defence client on programmes valued between £50m and £1bn.

 

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll manage all aspects of cost planning and commercial management from inception through to completion. You’ll support both clients and colleagues across key stages, offering strategic advice, leading project delivery, and mentoring junior team members.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor

  • Deliver cost management services across major projects
  • Advise on feasibility, design-stage costs, procurement, and contracts
  • Produce estimates, cost plans, tender documents and post-contract cost control
  • Evaluate building designs and cost implications to maintain budgets
  • Lead financial reporting and cost control throughout project lifecycle
  • Support the development of junior staff and contribute to team growth
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships with clear, confident communication
  • Champion digital tools (e.g. CostX, BIM) for quantity take-offs and estimates

 

Requirements of the Senior Quantity Surveyor

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar (RICS accredited)
  • MRICS chartered status preferred (not essential)
  • Strong NEC contract experience
  • Experience delivering technically complex projects
  • Commercially aware with a practical understanding of construction delivery
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to lead projects and teams
  • Digital fluency – ideally with CostX, BIM, or similar tools
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and driven to deliver quality outcomes
