We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established, multidisciplinary construction consultancy at their Manchester office. With a strong reputation across the North West and a wide portfolio of public and private sector clients, this is a great opportunity to take the next step in your career.

The role is predominantly office-based with flexible hybrid working options and occasional travel to local project sites and regional offices. The consultancy offers on-site parking, modern facilities, and a collaborative team environment.

 

About the Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a leading role in delivering cost consultancy services across a variety of sectors including residential, social housing, education, heritage, and local authority schemes. You’ll work closely with clients and stakeholders from inception to completion, providing strategic cost advice and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, to budget, and to the highest standards.

This role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior surveyors and take on team leadership responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely within a collaborative Quantity Surveying team, reporting to the Associate QS.
  • Take ownership of key local projects, managing them with minimal supervision.
  • Lead and attend site and design team meetings, providing clear cost advice and progress updates to clients.
  • Ensure all project documentation is managed and maintained in line with QA procedures.
  • Deliver cost advice aligned with RICS standards, including estimates, viability assessments, cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and whole life costings.
  • Prepare and manage key project documents, including contracts and tender packages, and oversee the tendering process.
  • Handle all aspects of post-contract cost management, including valuing variations, assessing claims, producing cost reports, and agreeing final accounts.
  • Support the development of junior team members through mentoring and guidance.

 

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar construction-related discipline
  • MRICS qualified or working towards
  • Previous consultancy experience (ideally within a multidisciplinary environment)
  • Proven experience acting as Employer’s Agent (desirable)
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Full UK driving licence
