SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Our client is seeking a Chartered structural engineer for this new appointment in their Manchester office.  You should be able to demonstrate a track record of successful delivery of design projects from concept to completion, with technical excellence at the forefront of all you do.

 

As a key player, you will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, decision-makers, and other consultants, to deliver outstanding design solutions. Your ability to manage client expectations and collaborate effectively will be essential as you take on the challenge of creating innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across diverse sectors. 

 

Our client contributes to some of the most complex and high-profile engineering projects worldwide, spanning sectors such as Education, Commercial, Residential, Airports, Defence, Energy, Civil Infrastructure, and Rail.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with Chartered status (CEng).
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes).
  • Proven experience in structural design across a variety of materials including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber – from concept through to detailed delivery.
  • Expertise in foundation design, structural analysis, and construction delivery.
  • Proficiency with 2D & 3D analytical tools (such as Robot, Tekla, and Tedds).
  • Strong understanding of construction implementation and site experience, with a solid grasp of buildability.
  • A proven ability to deliver high-quality design projects within budget and on time.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the consultancy business.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in presentations.
  • A passion for innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • A knack for cultivating client relationships and generating new business opportunities.
  • Ability to achieve SC clearance.
  • A full driving licence (desirable).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and nurture relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Take technical and commercial ownership of structural engineering design delivery.
  • Review and approve calculations, drawings, and design documentation.
  • Support the professional development of engineers and technicians, helping them achieve industry-recognized qualifications.
  • Interface regularly with clients and stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and project progression.
