Senior Structural Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with broad expertise in building structures across domestic, commercial, and institutional sectors. This role is perfect for someone who can lead projects, mentor junior engineers/technicians, and ensure delivery on time and on budget. You’ll act as the design lead across multiple active projects, liaise with clients, attend site visits, and help drive continuous professional development including progressing towards chartership and undertaking managerial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and provide technical oversight to a team of engineers and technicians
- Perform structural analysis and design using a range of materials (steel, concrete, masonry, timber)
- Deliver multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, budgets and quality are met
- Act as the primary design contact at client, consultant, and stakeholder meetings, including site visits
- Mentor and support junior staff and graduates
- Maintain and develop your own professional skills; take on managerial duties as needed
- Prepare clear, high‑quality reports and design documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BSc, BEng, MEng)
- Chartered status or working towards chartership through a recognised engineering institution
- Minimum of 5 years’ post‑university experience in structural engineering design
- Strong experience with British Standards and Eurocodes
- Proficient in structural design software (for example Tekla, TEDDS, Robot, Scia, CADS RC)
- Ability to produce AutoCAD drawings; Revit skills are a plus
- Skilled at doing hand calculations from first principles as well as software‑based design
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
