A respected and expanding engineering consultancy based in Colchester is currently seeking a mid-Level Structural Engineer to join their growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of structural designs, with a particular focus on load-bearing masonry structures. They will be involved in project coordination, technical delivery, and client liaison, while also supporting the development of junior staff.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structural design and analysis across various materials, with a strong emphasis on load-bearing masonry.
  • Preparation of technical reports, design calculations, and drawings.
  • Coordination with clients, architects, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Site visits and inspections.
  • Mentorship of junior engineers and technicians.
  • Contribution to internal knowledge development and technical excellence.

 

About You:

  • Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng).
  • At least 3 years of experience within a UK consultancy environment.
  • Solid experience in load-bearing masonry design is essential.
  • Proficiency in structural software (e.g., Tekla Tedds, MasterSeries, etc.).
  • Good working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (Eurocodes/British Standards).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to professional development, with support offered toward IStructE or ICE Chartership.
