My client who are an AJ100 practice, established within architecture throughout the UK and Europe, are looking for a creative and driven Urban Designer to join them in shaping the future of towns, cities, and communities across the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a few years of experience to get hands-on with exciting projects, from strategic masterplans and regeneration schemes to new settlements and public realm improvements.
What Your Day would look like
- Supporting the design and delivery of urban design projects at various scales
- Creating layouts, land use budgets, and visual material to communicate design ideas
- Preparing supporting documents such as Design Codes, Vision Statements, and Design Access Statements
- Attending site visits, team meetings, and community engagement events (some may be on weekends)
- Assisting with client presentations and contributing to design discussions
- Coordinating with consultants and external partners under guidance
- Engaging in CPD and staying current with planning policy and technical standards
- Receiving mentorship and contributing to a collaborative studio culture
Candidate Requirements
- 2–5 years of professional experience in urban design
- UK Degree qualification within Urban Design
- Strong design and graphic skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
- A portfolio that demonstrates experience in masterplanning, regeneration, and placemaking
- Confidence in communicating ideas and working within a team
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow
- A genuine interest in creating places that are inclusive, sustainable, and people-focused
On offer for the successful Urban Designer will be a salary of £38,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience, Hybrid working arrangements and a generous benefits package.
